Northern Ireland's strengths are it's flourishing services sector, which contributes to nearly 70% of the economy, reflecting the growth of it's knowledge-led economy and over the past 5 years Northern Ireland's manufacturing output has increased 24.5% compared to the rest of the UK which has seen a fall of 1.6% over the same period. Economic growth between 1999 and 2004 was 8.3% - over twice the UK average and greater than other UK regions and unemloyment has almost halved over the last 10 years.
